Recently, a group of large artistic installations showed up at Shanghai Astronomy Museum, represented by the stainless sculpture Gravity. These astronomy-themed artistic works are specially customized for Shanghai Astronomy Museum by some well-known Chinese and foreign artists upon the invitation of the museum. They are meant to show the beauty of astronomy from multiple dimensions and angles. These works made from different perspectives and in diversified forms combine the appeal of rational science with the beauty of artistic creation to interpret the stunning charm of the universe.

The most representative one is the stainless sculpture Gravity standing in the central area outside the museum. It was created by the Japanese artist Masayuki Koorida. With a diameter of 11 meters and a height of 10 meters, the sculpture is composed of 12 mirrored stainless ellipsoids drawn to each other. It seems that the 12 ellipsoids are trying to burst away from each other but are pulled to the center by a mysterious force at the same time, which forms a stable balanced structure. The sculpture is aimed to manifest the interaction of celestial bodies in the universe. When visitors come close to the sculpture, they'll see the images of the surrounding environment, people, and objects reflected on the stainless mirrored surfaces, and the images become part of the sculpture.
