SSTM held a high-end seminar on the preparation of the science popularization think tank.

On October 30, 2021, SSTM held a high-end seminar on the preparation of the science popularization think tank. Wang Xiaoming, Curator of SSTM, made an opening speech for the seminar, introducing the existing foundation, future development goals, and operational ideas of the science popularization think tank. In the keynote speech part, the first speaker Qian Xuhong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of East China Normal University, gave a report entitled The Importance of Science Popularization for Transformation of the Way of Thinking, expounding some of his thoughts and ideas on science education, innovative thinking and talent cultivation. Then Wang Pinxian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of the School of Ocean and Earth Science, Tongji University, made a keynote speech entitled Shaping a Scientific City and Promoting Cultural Renewal. 

After the keynote speech, the seminar started a discussion on the construction of the science popularization think tank, the trend of science education and communication, and other issues. The participating experts exchanged each other's ideas and shared their insights on the future development and research directions of the think tank under the topics of "Science Popularization Facing 2035: From Top-Level Design to Strategy Implementation", "New Future of Science Communication: From Discipline Construction to Industry Reform", and "Re-examination of Science Education: Scientific Knowledge, Spirit and Methods".
