Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Attends an International Online Seminar on VR Projects


    To deepen cooperation and communication with overseas popular science and technology museums and improve the virtual exhibition technology of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, on April 7, 2022,12 staff members of the Cooperation & Communication Division, Exhibition & Education Center of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Exhibition & Education Center of Shanghai Natural History Museum and Exhibition & Education Center of Shanghai Astronomy Museum were present at an international online seminar on VR projects. 

    This seminar was organized by the National Science Museum, Thailand. Dr. Julie Williamson from the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow was invited to make keynote speech on "What's Metaverse" and share cases on virtual reality technology and immersive technology, as well as the prospect of their application in museums. Personnel from the National Science and Technology Centre (Australia), Miraikan (Japan), China Taiwan Science and Technology Museum[c1] , Science Center Singapore, Gwacheon National Science Museum, etc., attended the seminar. In late April, for this research project, attendees would be invited for online workshop and VR exhibit design. This activity helped our museum further the VR exhibit design and better understand the application of VR technologies in museums.
