On November 14, 2021, Professor Zhou Guangming, Deputy Dean of the School of Radiation Medicine and Protection, Medical College of Soochow University, and an academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, visited Shanghai Science Communication Forum and shared with the audience the basic knowledge and attributes of the health risks and space radiation faced by astronauts and how Chinese scientists solved the difficulties in living in space and provided strong support for astronauts.

Professor Zhou Guangming has long been engaged in the evaluation research on health risks of space radiation and corresponding protection, the research on the mechanism of the biological effects of heavy ion radiation, and others. According to Professor Zhou, when the construction of China's space station is fully completed, China will continue to explore the moon and Mars in the future. The evaluation research on the radiation safety of astronauts can solve the invisible obstacle of space radiation to space migration, and it is also one of the critical factors for China's development of aerospace industry, the construction of a major power in space, and the further long-term deep-space exploration of manned spacecraft.
