Shanghai Science & Technology Museum Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the Ecology and Environment Department of Qinghai Province

On March 5, 2024, the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between Shanghai Science & Technology Museum and the Ecology and Environment Department of Qinghai Province and the opening ceremony of the "Qinghai Ecological Window" were held at Shanghai Natural History Museum. The two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in exhibitions, popular science education, scientific research and talent training, guide the public to actively participate in the construction of a beautiful China, and accelerate the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

With one located on the source of Yangtze River and the other on the end, what connects Qinghai and Shanghai is not only the water of the river, but also a deep consensus on protecting the ecological environment and biodiversity. According to the strategic cooperation agreement, based on the principles of equality and voluntariness, complementary advantages, resource sharing, and win-win cooperation, the two parties will utilize the rich and unique natural ecological resources of Qinghai Province and the platform and talent advantages of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, join hands in planning popular science exhibitions and developing popular science courseware, organize science teacher training, theme study activities, carry out ecological protection research, talent training, etc., tell the story of Yangtze River protection and ecological civilization construction, and serve as active disseminators and model practitioners of Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization.

As a large-scale independent network video observation system built on the basis of ecological monitoring projects, "Qinghai Ecological Window" has achieved full monitoring coverage of five major ecological sectors including the Sanjiangyuan River, and equipped ecological protection with "clairvoyance" and "radar ears". With the "Qinghai Ecological Window" jointly built with the Ecology and Environment Department of Qinghai Province, it allows Shanghai residents to see the real-time ecological conditions of 12 areas in Qinghai, including the Sanjiangyuan, Eling Lake, and Yuzhu Peak without leaving Shanghai, and to experience the rich natural ecological resources and ecological protection achievements of Qinghai. Thereby it can encourage the general public to participate in biodiversity conservation actions.
