Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

Under the guidance of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Shanghai Municipal People's Government, CPC Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Work Committee, and Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality over the past 20 years, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum has taken the path of modern comprehensive science and technology museum clusters featuring science popularization, innovation, and "integration of three museums into one", and promoted the building of science popularization and innovation capacity, with fruitful results in the construction of venues, exhibition displays, educational services, scientific research, team building, international cooperation, and other works. On December 18, 2021, a seminar themed on "The Future and Development of Science Museums in the New Era" & the 20th Anniversary Conference of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and Shanghai Science Education Development Foundation were held at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. As required by COVID-19 prevention and control, the seminar was conducted both online and offline. 

Representatives from all walks of life were invited to give advice on the future development of the venue from their professional perspective. Wang Pin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a professor of the School of Ocean and Earth Science, Tongji University, gave a presentation entitled Building a City of Science and Technology and Shaping a New Culture. Chen Saijuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Academic Board of Shanghai Institute of Hematology, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, discussed the relationship between cancer, genetics and environment, responded to the current public concern about cancer, and called upon science popularizers to organize more useful and beneficial science popularization activities. An Laishun, Vice President of International Council of Museums and a distinguished professor of Shanghai University, gave a presentation themed on Museums As Active Participants in the Sustainable Development. Wang Xiaoming, Director of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, delivered a report entitled The Future and Development of Venues in the New Era.
