The first temporary exhibition of Shanghai Astronomy Museum opened, unveiling the everyday life on Mars.
On October 15, 2021, Shanghai Astronomy Museum (a branch of SSTM) launched its first temporary exhibition — the original and situational exhibition "Living on Mars". The exhibition takes humans' future life on Mars as the main line and combines science and art organically. Starting with clothing, food, housing, and transportation, it offers visitors an immersive experience of a day's life on Mars.
The exhibition is composed of three parts: "This Is Mars", "Welcome to Mars" and "Salute to Mars and Space Flight", highlighted by a situational experience that allows visitors to experience the life on Mars in an immersive manner. There are also artistic installations and scenes created against Martian landscapes, such as the famous Martian sandstorm, Olympus Mons, and Valles Marineris. In the exhibition, visitors can get a glimpse of the beauty of Mars. The amazing blue sunset on Mars, in particular, is indeed a feast for eyes. The area where a giant astronaut model floating in the air beckons visitors has become a popular check-in spot.
