The SSTM Holds Launching Ceremony of “Science Night” and “New Popularization of Medical Science”
On the evening of August 22, the SSTM successfully held the launching ceremony of the “Science Night” and “New Popularization of Medical Science,” and displayed, together with medical workers who fought against COVID-19, the achievements in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic with science and technology and the innovations in science and technology. More than 1,000 people experienced this fun-filled event for free. Guided by the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality and supported by the Shanghai Science Education Development Foundation, this is one of the special events of the Shanghai Science Festival.
At the launching ceremony, Miao Wenjing, Deputy Curator of the SSTM, delivered a speech, and together with Jiang Jinjun, member of Shanghai’s first medical team sent to aid COVID-19 control in Hubei, director of the respiratory care unit of Zhongshan Hospital, and the SSTM’s scientific education mascots “Keke” and “Qiqi,” launched the 2020 brand project of the SSTM, the “New Popularization of Medical Science” health care activities. Supported by the “Science and Technology Innovation Action Plan” of the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, the “New Popularization of Medical Science” project is the first attempt by the SSTM to achieve cross-field cooperation between “Museums and Hospitals.” It aims to call on the whole society to increase its attention to medical science popularization, build a platform for front-line medical workers to have face-to-face communication with the public, and help people understand and prevent diseases, and establish a scientific outlook on health.
