“My Nature Kit 2020” Launched Online

As one of the special events of the Shanghai Science Festival, the brand education activity of the Shanghai Natural History Museum (a branch of the SSTM) “Hear·See Everything – My Nature Kit 2020” kicked off on August 15. The Shanghai Natural History Museum released the “Hear Everything” app for science popularization. With the slogan of “Everyone can be a recorder” and themed on the sounds of animals, the event calls upon the public to collect, record, and upload wildlife distribution information, which will be included in the database for researchers to help with urban wildlife research.
In the subsequent live broadcast of the Nautilus Auditorium, a number of disciplines and industry experts from the East China Normal University, the Shanghai Municipal Greening and City Appearance Administration, the Shanghai Forestry Station, the One Planet Foundation and the Natural History Research Center of the SNHM discussed the topic of “Everyone can be a Recorder – From Snapshots to Citizen Science.” They talked about the significance of citizen science to basic scientific research, and the significance of promoting citizen science to the construction of ecological civilization and wildlife protection and management.
