As a major event of Shanghai Science Festival, Shanghai Science Experiment Exhibition Competition was held in Popular Science Park in Wisdom Bay on May 23, 2021. This year, the number of works and competitors from various districts and counties hit a record high. Finally, the scientific experiment Disguise performed by Yu Ting and Wang Yixi from the Exhibition and Education Center of the SSTM and the scientific experiment Light and Shadow Magic of Butterflies performed by Wu Jialin and Huang Lingli from the Exhibition and Education Center of Shanghai Natural History Museum (SNHM) won the first prize.

Disguise is innovative mainly in two aspects - experimental props and plot design. The team members presented 5 different experimental effects on a piece of paper through studying the different reactions between substances, experimental effects of different carriers, and the perfect time. The spy-themed experiment in the form of science popularization experiment drama is a unique tribute paid by science popularization workers to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Light and Shadow Magic of Butterflies used 100 pieces of large blue morpho wings to make a beautiful picture of butterfly wing, showing the changing light and shadow of the butterfly as colorful as a rainbow and interpreting the interaction between the physical structure and light. It unveiled the refraction and reflection of light one by one through interesting experiments.
