On February 8, 2022, the List of the First Batch of National Science Popularization Education Bases for 2021-2025 was released on the official website of the China Association for Science and Technology. After review, 800 organizations are proposed to be identified as the national science popularization education bases. Both Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and Shanghai Natural History Museum (Branch of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum) are included in the list.

Over the past 20 years, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum has always been committed to cultivating science popularization and working in innovation. After marching to the new journey of "three-in-one" of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Shanghai Natural History Museum, and Shanghai Astronomy Museum, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum has basically realized the overall goal of "building a cluster of science and technology museums with better integration of scientific and technological resources, support for innovation and development, and international industry leadership". The year 2022 is a key for the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to follow out the 14th Five-year Plan and the Museum will continue to rely on the cluster features of "science centers + museums", focus on the core functions of "science education", give full play to its own resources in science popularization, strive to improve its science popularization service capability, and actively carry out science popularization education activities for the public, so as to further build the Museum into an industry leader among the national science popularization education bases.
