The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum joined hands with Shanghai Jiao Tong University to hold a grand opening ceremony for“The Fusion of Science and Art – Exhibition of Works from Tsung-Dao Lee Science and Art Lecture Foundation” at the Special Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the museum on April 18, 2017. The exhibition displayed 84 fusion works of science and art, including paintings by the Nobel Prize laureate Tsung-Dao Lee together with famous artists and awarded-works of the Tsung-Dao Lee Science and Art Contest. The exhibition explained the profound scientific principles by artistic means, bringing a visual feast for visitors.

“Art and science are the two sides of a coin. Both originated from the noblest part of human activities with the pursuit of profoundness, pervasiveness, eternity and meaningfulness,”Tsung-Dao Lee once said. The words reveal a viewpoint on the fusion of science and art as advocated and practiced by Tsung-Dao Lee.

Apart from the above Science and art works, SSTM made short animation films to allow visitors to have a preliminary understanding of abstract science principles in three minutes.

During the exhibition, the organizer also invited famous teachers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University to give lectures, and recruited volunteers from the university to provide orientations and on-site service. Visitors to the exhibition could also join in education activities, including DIY.
