A Nobel Prize Winner and Academician Led a Tour to Collision of Thought in the "First Lecture of the New Year" of Shanghai Science Communication Forum
On January 25, 2025, the 220th session of the "First Lecture of the New Year" of Shanghai Science Communication Forum was held at Shanghai Pudong Library. This event covered five places, with more than 1,200 viewers at Anhui Science and Technology Museum, Henan Science and Technology Museum, Xinjiang Science and Technology Museum, and Shaoxing Sci-Tech Museum, as well as 465,000 online viewers.
Frank Wilczek, the winner of Nobel Prize in Physics in 2004, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chief Scientist of the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was invited to give a lecture on science popularization. Ding Hong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Deputy Director of the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, participated in the dialogue.
In the lecture session, Prof. Frank Wilczek delivered to viewers a fascinating science popularization lecture entitled New Kinds of Matter, New Kinds of Minds. From simple to difficult content, he led viewers to delve into unknown science, stimulated the collision of minds, and described how the principles of physics drive classical computers, artificial neural networks, and quantum computers to become a reality.
