Lufeng Dinosaurs Arrive in Shanghai! Shanghai and Yunnan Join Hands to Open a New Chapter in “Culture & Tourism Science Communication” Integration

On June 21, 2025, the “Roars from Across China · China’s Dinosaur World” and Lufeng Culture and Tourism Promotion Week were grandly launched at SNHM. The weeklong event, featuring diverse exhibitions, promotions, and interactive experiences, presented a cultural feast of dinosaurs for Shanghai residents and further deepened the cultural and tourism cooperation between Shanghai and Yunnan.

Liu Jian, Deputy Director of SSTM, and Dou Xiaojun, Mayor of Lufeng, jointly officiated the opening ceremony. Ni Minjing, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Director of SSTM, served as the host and gave a professional science-based interpretation focusing on Lufeng’s iconic exhibits - Lufengosaurus huenei and the Triassic Chinese Dragons. Mayor Dou Xiaojun led a delegation of government and business representatives to enthusiastically promote Lufeng’s cultural and tourism resources to Shanghai audiences, presenting an attractive “culture and tourism gift package.”

Immediately following the opening ceremony, a cultural and tourism business roundtable was held, connecting key enterprises from both Shanghai and Yunnan. The discussion centered on Lufeng’s world-class dinosaur fossil resources, the cultural heritage of Heijing Ancient Town, and the potential for educational travel, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

During the promotion week, SNHM also became a key check-in point for Lufeng dinosaur culture. Carefully curated interactive courses and a creative cultural marketplace offered residents an immersive experience of Lufeng’s charm. A series of innovative online livestream events further expanded reach, allowing viewers to explore Lufeng virtually.

The “Roars from Across China · China’s Dinosaur World” and Lufeng Culture and Tourism Promotion Week not only showcased the treasures of Lufeng’s dinosaur heritage but also marked another important milestone in the deepening cooperation between Shanghai and Yunnan.
