On the afternoon of June 1, 2023, the Launching Ceremony for the Popular Science Pop-up Book "How Dinosaurs Come Alive", co-organized by Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, Shanghai Library, and Shanghai Science & Education Development Foundation, was held at Shanghai Library (East Hall). At the ceremony, three types of products were introduced. They're the dinosaur science pop-up book & postcards, plush dinosaur dolls, and Q-version dinosaur collectibles newly developed by Shanghai Science & Technology Museum. In addition, various interactions and science lectures were provided for more than 700 live audiences to deliver a dinosaur science feast.

This dinosaur-themed science pop-up book not only connects scientific research on How Dinosaurs Come Alive in stories for comprehensive and systematic presentation but also implants the idea of designing interactive exhibits into the book and organically combines scientific knowledge with interaction plots, forming seven three-dimensional scenes, 29 three-dimensional paper arts, 38 effectiveness enhanced flip pages, 16 interactive plots and 83 science paintings for an immersive experience.

After the launching ceremony, the 197th Shanghai Science Communication Forum was held, in which Xu Xing, paleontologist and researcher of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a science popularization lecture entitled "Searching for Dinosaur Fossils". With fossil research as a clue and in the axle of time, he led audiences on a journey of dinosaur discovery in China - from Lufengosaurus in Yunnan Province in the early Jurassic period to dinosaur fossils found in Guangdong at the end of the Cretaceous period - through his firsthand anecdotes, which opened a new horizon to audiences.
