Nautilus Auditorium Showed Concern to the Exploration of Wild Birds on Chongming Island

On March 29, 2025, the 243rd session of Nautilus Auditorium was held at Shanghai Natural History Museum. Professor Wang Tianhou, an expert in ecology, was invited to give a lecture on the theme of Nature Spirit: Exploration of Wild Birds on Chongming Island.

Professor Wang Tianhou once served as Vice Dean and Discipline Director of School of Life Sciences, East China Normal University and President of Shanghai Zoological Society, and now works as Director of Shanghai Science & Education Development Foundation. He is mainly engaged in research on biodiversity conservation and wetland ecology.

In the lecture, based on the protection and research of birds and their habitat on Chongming Ecological Island for the past decades, Want Tianhou mainly introduced the ecological characteristics, distribution status, problems faced and solutions regarding birds diversity and their habitat on Chongming Island. Wang Tianhou also encouraged social figures and primary and middle school students to participate in the practice of Chongming Ecological Island construction, experience the natural environment in Chongming, watch birds, and enhance their scientific awareness of understanding nature, caring for nature, and integrating into nature.
