From January 18 to 19, 2024, the first "Star Seedling" Astronomy Frontier Innovation Education Forum co-sponsored by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Astronomy Museum was successfully held. At the forum, it was discussed how to discover and cultivate "star seedlings" talents who are interested in engaging in astronomy in the future, and to attract more young people to get to know astronomy, understand astronomy, and devote themselves to astronomy. More than 160 teachers and students from nearly 60 schools in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shenzhen and other places participated in the forum.

With the goal of discovering and cultivating "star seedlings" students, experts and scholars in different fields were invited to the forum to discuss the strategic significance and development prospects of astronomy in China, as well as how cutting-edge astrophysics can promote the growth of high-quality "star seedlings" talents. They also shared the reason for their working in astronomy industry and experiences, and encouraged students to actively join the astronomical research and contribute to the development of astronomy in China.

The discovery and cultivation of "star seedlings" not only requires the efforts of students, but also the high-quality science popularization supply from schools, science popularization museums and other institutions. The forum also invited senior astronomy teachers from all over the country to share cases and experiences of innovative astronomy education activities in their schools, to jointly create a platform for sharing innovative astronomy education resources in middle and high schools, and to build a communication bridge between superior astronomy discipline resources in colleges and universities and basic education.
