SSTM Brings Collections of "One Square Meter Museum" into Campus for Science Popularization

On the afternoon of April 30, 2024, the "Science Travel · Technological Innovation Principal Space Station" and "One Square Meter Museum" activity was successfully held in the campus. This activity was aimed at responding to General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on science and technology innovation and science popularization, and deeply implementing the policy requirements of the Ministry of Education and the National Cultural Heritage Administration on the use of museum resources for primary and middle school education and teaching. The purpose was to allow full play to the role of rich collection resources of museums in primary and middle school education and teaching, and promote the integrative development of science popularization and science and technology innovation.

This popular science program of collections of "One Square Meter Museum" into campus was initiated by SSTM. This program showed the Museum's resolution to supply its collection resources to primary and middle schools, serve the primary and middle school science course and cultivate youth's interest in science. Guo Kunyu, a distinguished professor of Fudan University and long-standing professor of Gu Chaohao Research Institute of Shanghai Center for Mathematical Sciences, delivered a keynote speech Mathematics: Scientific Spirit and Innovative Thinking. During the dialogue of "Curator's Appointment," Ni Minjing, a member of the National Committee of CPPCC and Curator of SSTM, Professor Guo Kunyu, and Lou Weiyi, Principal of Songjiang Branch, No. 2 High School of East China Normal University and Vice Principal of No. 2 High School of East China Normal University started up an inspiring cross-sector conservation with a theme on "Break the ceiling of museums."

The appointment ceremony of the chief advisor of the Technological Innovation Principal Space Station and the awarding ceremony of the alliance schools were also held, which further expanded the "circle of friends" of the Space Station. Songjiang Branch, No. 2 High School of East China Normal University displayed the school's special technological innovation programs, which fully demonstrated the school's active exploration and excellent results in cultivating science and technology innovation talents. The violin performance and science and technology light show at the activity site showcased the trans-disciplinary artistic glamour, immersing visitors in the profound cultural and artistic charm of mysterious science.
