The "Museum WALK · Approaching the North Pole" Collections into Shopping Mall Charity Event Kicked off
The "Museum WALK · Approaching the North Pole" Collections into Shopping Mall Charity Event, hosted by Shanghai Natural History Museum and organized by Shanghai Zijing Square, kicked off at Atrium L1, Zijing Square on June 28, 2024. This is the museum's first attempt to provide a new science popularization space for citizens with specimens in the business district. It is also another brand-new exploration of museum-enterprise integration after exhibitions and educational activities in the business district. This move has further expanded the space of science popularization and interpreted another vivid practice of the exhibition with a broad vision.
This year coincides with the 40th anniversary of China's polar scientific expeditions, and the changes in the polar regions are related to the global climate and the safety of human society. To further leverage the educational role of the collection, our museum has planned this event in conjunction with Zijing Square, ingeniously integrating culture, business, tourism, and exhibitions to introduce a cross-disciplinary feast, including the know-how and topics of the Arctic bioresources, Arctic protection, and planet safeguarding.
The event includes four parts: "Understanding the Polar Regions", "Arctic vs Antarctic", "Arctic Bioresources" and "Polar Scientific Expeditions". Through the display of exquisite Arctic biological specimens, combined with ice and snow scenes, the audience has experienced the extreme environment, ecosystem, and biodiversity of the Arctic region up close. The event showcases eight Arctic biological specimens, including six mammals, one bird, and one plant.
