German Children’s Voices Meet Chinese Dinosaurs, Munich Children’s Choir Visits SNHM

On August 15, 2025, members of the Munich Children’s Choir from Germany visited SNHM, embarking on a journey that combined science and art. Ni Minjing, Director of SSTM, delivered an engaging lecture on dinosaurs for the young guests. After listening attentively, the children enthusiastically toured the “Roars from Across China · China’s Dinosaur Exhibition” and later filled the museum’s central atrium with their pure and melodious singing.
Director Ni vividly described the evolution of life on Earth and the rise and fall of the dinosaur family. He focused particularly on the connection between birds and dinosaurs: the striking similarity between avian skeletons and dinosaur fossils supports the scientific hypothesis that “birds originated from dinosaurs.” The crucial starting point of this hypothesis, the feathered fossil of Archaeopteryx, was discovered in Bavaria, Germany, the children’s homeland. After the lecture, the choir performed in the museum’s central atrium. Beneath three towering skeletal models of “Chinese dragons,” the children stood in neat formation and sang with crystal-clear voices, captivating many visitors who stopped to listen.
