“Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station - A Science Communication Hub for All” Newly Launched

On the morning of February 11, the “Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station - A Science Communication Hub for All,” jointly developed by the SSTM, the Science and Economic Commission of Pudong New Area, and Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd., was newly launched. The launch ceremony was held at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station on Shanghai Metro Line 2.

The first phase of the science communication station, themed “Chinese Dragons in Great Power,” has created a 20 square meter immersive science communication space. As a model site for science communication and culture among more than 500 metro stations in Shanghai, the “Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station - A Science Communication Hub for All” is guided by the concept that “science communication is everywhere.” It creatively designs three major sections, namely “The Beauty of Science,” “The Power of Technology,” and “The Light of Scientific Innovation.” Leveraging the characteristics of metro stations with high passenger flow and proximity to daily life, it provides citizens with science communication content that is closely related to everyday life, reflects frontier technologies, and embodies artistic aesthetics, enabling the public to experience cutting edge technologies and appreciate the charm of science during their daily commute.

In terms of content, closely aligned with the exhibition theme, it vividly presents the scientific principles and innovative achievements behind great power such as the “Xuelong 2” polar research icebreaker, the “Long” series fighter aircraft, the “Yinlong” shield tunneling machine, as well as the “Hualong One” and “Linglong One” nuclear power technology. In terms of communication formats, it adopts lightweight visual design and integrates elements such as science communication videos and interactive games to enhance public participation and engagement. At the same time, a dynamic update mechanism has been established to connect with the latest exhibitions and displays of SSTM, showcase cutting edge innovations of high-tech enterprises in Pudong New Area, and carry out supporting science education activities, thereby truly bringing scientific knowledge beyond museum spaces and into the public, effectively expanding the reach and impact of science communication.
