“HITECH SPACE STATION” Space Day Event Wrapped Up Successfully

On April 24, 2025, China celebrated the 10th Space Day, marking a year of remarkable breakthroughs in the countrys aerospace endeavors. On April 26, under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum hosted a Space Day event at the Shanghai Astronomy Museum as part of its HITECH SPACE STATION program. Experts and scholars from educational and scientific and technological circles gathered to discuss the inheritance of aerospace spirit and the cultivation of innovative talents.

The event featured a keynote speech by Qian Yonggang, son of Qian Xuesen,  Father of Chinas Space Program and director of the Qian Xuesen Library at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Drawing from historical perspectives and classical references, Mr. Qian elaborated on the crucial role of scientists patriotic dedication in scientific and technological innovation. He encouraged young attendees to fully embrace the aerospace spirit and closely align personal growth with national development to contribute wisdom and strength for Chinas great rejuvenation.

Ni Minjing, member of the National Committee of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference and director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, delivered a forward-looking speech titled Out of the Cradle, where he analyzed the profound impact of contemporary scientific and technological advances on aerospace development, and mapped out the blueprint for future space technology - from new energy propulsion systems to breakthroughs in spacetime concepts. Mr. Ni emphasized that to fulfill the historic mission of building China into a space power, its imperative to cultivate top innovative talents and inspire youth to dare to imagine the impossible while remaining grounded in practical work, much like aerospace pioneers.

The Dialogue with the Director session, moderated by Director Ni Minjing, featured in-depth discussions with Director Qian Yonggang, Feng Zhigang (Principal of Shanghai High School), and Huang Yuehui (Principal of High School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University) on How Mathematics Shapes Humanitys Understanding and Exploration of the Universe.
