Shanghai Science & Technology Museum Participated in Conducting a Special Event for WLA World Top Scientists Campus Tour

On November 7, 2023, under the guidance of the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and co-sponsored by the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, the World Laureates Association, and the Education Bureau of Pudong New Area, the "Science Travel · Technological Innovation Principal Space Station" WLA World Top Scientists Campus Tour special event was introduced to Shanghai Astronomy Museum to discuss the future of science and technology innovation with the participation of more than 100 teachers and students from the city's special scientific innovation education schools.

James Rothman, a world's top scientist from WLA, was especially invited to give a keynote speech. Professor James Rothman is a named professor of cell biology at Yale University in the United States. He won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly with Randy Schekman and Thomas Südhof for "discovering the regulatory mechanism of vesicle transport, the main transport system in cells." Taking "A Life in Science" as the theme of his speech, he mainly revealed his major research results: the mechanism of neurotransmitter release in synapses, and shared interesting experiences in his scientific career.
