The Keqi Starlight Carnival kicked off at the B1 Sunken Plaza of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM) on the evening of June 6. Wang Jianzhang, Deputy Secretary of the SSTM Party Committee and Secretary of its Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Deputy Directors Xin Ge and Xue Wei were present at the opening ceremony. They lit the themed light installation together, marking the official launch of the carnival.

Packed with local residents and tourists, the venue offered a one-of-a-kind nighttime science popularization experience, where visitors could interact with cutting-edge tech amid stunning light displays.

Centered on SSTM’s mascot Keqi as its core IP, the carnival offers a wealth of activities: a Starlight-themed light show, eight cultural and creative stalls, seven specialty food trucks, six catering booths, and an interactive robot football zone. An immersive script-based role-play experience debuted alongside the opening ceremony, drawing crowds of parent-child families and young attendees. Visitors traced storylines to complete exploration missions across the museum’s outdoor spaces, getting a taste of an innovative immersive model that combines science popularization with recreational fun.

The Keqi Starlight Carnival will stay in operation until the end of summer vacation. Opening Hours: 17:00–20:00, Tuesdays to Fridays; 10:00–21:00, weekends and public holidays. The venue is closed every Monday. Visitors can enjoy a full range of onsite highlights: cultural and creative merchandise, distinctive catering options, and diverse interactive experiences. An exclusive NPC-themed parade will be staged each Saturday. All local residents and tourists are cordially invited to drop by and experience a magical summer journey where science popularization meets dazzling light displays.
