The First "Our National Park" Scientific Board Game Challenge Activity Was Held
As part of the 19th Shanghai Youth Science Festival, the first "Our National Park" scientific board game challenge activity was held at the Shanghai Art+ Century Museum on July 6, 2024. The event was co-hosted by the Science and Technology Communication Center of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and the Shanghai Science and Art Education Center. A total of 82 teams or 328 players from 16 districts of the city participated in the event.
On the day, the players were divided into junior and senior groups to take part in original science board games respectively created by Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, i.e. Giant Panda National Park and The Peak of Snow Mountain · Sanjiangyuan. In Giant Panda National Park, junior group participants, as animal protectors, set out from the research base, connecting tiles to delve into the heart of the national park. They sought to create ecological corridors for animals and connect fragmented habitats, ultimately building a unique home for wildlife. In The Peak of Snow Mountain · Sanjiangyuan, the senior group participants worked to attract a diverse array of species, construct food chains to support apex predators, protect grasslands and wetlands, and provide habitats and abundant food for the animals.
The event also featured other original science board game experience areas where participants could preview the third installment of the China National Parks series, Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park (sponsored by the Pudong New Area Science Popularization Special Fund), and the new board game Come on, Monkey.
