"Exhibition in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the First Flight across the South Atlantic Ocean" kicks off in Shanghai Science & Technology Museum

On November 15, 2022, the "Exhibition in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the First Flight across the South Atlantic Ocean", organized by the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, the Consulate General of the Republic of Portugal in Shanghai and the Consulate General of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Shanghai, opened in Shanghai Science & Technology Museum. This exhibition is the first foreign exhibition introduced by the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum in three years, and also the first cooperation between the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum and Portuguese-speaking countries as well as South American countries. 

The year 2022 is the 100th Anniversary of the First Flight across the South Atlantic Ocean by Portuguese Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral. To commemorate this initiative, Portugal has curated the "Exhibition in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the First Flight across the South Atlantic Ocean", which connects Portugal and Brazil through the extraordinary journey in the history of world aviation through the air route between Europe and the Americas created by two Portuguese and introduces to the public the innovative scientific and technological applications in the field of air navigation, including the "path corrector" and the "precision sextant". In addition to having promoted the advancement of air navigation technology, the First Flight across the South Atlantic Ocean has achieved major breakthroughs in the field of science and technology and demonstrated the scientific spirit of human exploration. The languages of the exhibition are Chinese, Portuguese and English.
