"Winter Astronomy Carnival" Was Launched to Create a Popular Science Extravaganza

On December 20, 2024, Shanghai Astronomy Museum officially launched a two-month signature series event "Winter Astronomy Carnival" to create a colorful astronomy extravaganza for the public.

On that morning, Shanghai Astronomy Museum signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Harbour City Development (Group) Co., Ltd. and established a cooperative relationship with Shanghai Ocean University to promote scientific and technological innovation and interdisciplinary cooperation and build a Joint Laboratory for Planetary Materials and Environment. Shanghai Astronomy Museum also released two sets of original theme galleries, which can be applied to more scenarios, with an aim to promote the dissemination of astronomical knowledge through cross-space and cross-time approaches.

During the carnival, the museum planned to carry out 18 signature activities such as "Star Navigation," "Galaxy Rostrum" and "Starry Sky Concert." Among them, based on the popular science masterpiece Black Holes: The Key to Understanding the Universe by celebrity physicist Brain Cox, the Galaxy Rostrum will invite translators to interpret popular science knowledge related to black holes, involving the history of human exploration of black holes and the space-time evolution of black holes, with the goal to inspire more people to explore black holes, space and astronomy.
