On May 7, 2023, the Shanghai Natural History Museum launched the "One Square Meter Museum" brand project and released the new popular science book called One Square Meter Museum: Building My Dinosaur Exhibition.

The "One Square Meter Museum" series of popular science books is a series of contextual and interactive handmade books jointly launched by the Shanghai Natural History Museum and East China Normal University Press. In this set of books, readers will become museum curators, curating and making their own one square meter museum through handmade methods. One Square Meter Museum: Building My Dinosaur Exhibition takes "dinosaurs" as its theme and guides readers to complete knowledge input and scene construction through the two tasks of "excavating and restoring a dinosaur" and "building a dinosaur exhibition". Readers demonstrate what they have learned about the topic knowledge and share it with their families and friends through hands-on exercises to master independent learning from information input to output consolidation.

Shanghai Natural History Museum will take the "One Square Meter Museum" series of popular science books as the starting point to create the "One Square Meter Museum" brand project. The project takes "contextual learning" as the guiding theory and popular science books as the supporting materials. Through a series of science education events such as science lectures, outdoor exploration, children's theater and "future curator" training camp, participants are guided to understand the concept and learning methods of "one square meter museum" and plan and create their own one square meter museum. The brand will invite professionals in the industry to expand and extend the educational connotation through "workshop" seminars.

In the Salon Conversation, Liu Zhe, Director of the Network Science Popularization Department of the Exhibition and Education Center of the Shanghai Natural History Museum, Jiang Shiliang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Science Writers Association, and Bao Xianqing, Associate Professor of Shanghai Normal University, discussed how the "One Square Meter Museum" can promote children's learning and growth, and how to use curatorial thinking to broaden the boundaries of museum education from the perspectives of museum education, talent training and science education practice.

In the science lecture session, He Xin, an associate researcher at the Natural History Research Center of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, introduced his thirty-year pursuit of dinosaurs, telling the story of how his curiosity and thirst for knowledge were aroused by dinosaurs as a species and how he eventually grew into a professional dinosaur "enthusiast".
