Academic Seminar on Educational Thinking in the AI Era Held Successfully

On March 20, 2025, the 27th session of "Science Travel · Technological Innovation Principal Space Station" was carried out at Shanghai High School. During the event, the Academic Seminar on Educational Thinking in the AI Era was held to discuss the top-level design, practical path and future direction of "AI+ Education." The event was co-hosted by Shanghai Education Society and Shanghai Science & Technology Museum and co-organized by Shanghai High School and Technological Innovation Principal Space Station Organizing Committee. Experts and scholars from education and science & technology circles and more than 500 principals and managers of primary and middle schools participated in the event.

During the academic discussion, the guests exchanged their views on the application and challenges of AI technology in the field of education from different perspectives, and shared their practical experience in personalized teaching, intelligent education big data application, etc. Ni Minjing, member of the CPPCC National Committee and Curator of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, gave a concluding speech at the Academic Seminar, indicating that AI would bring great challenges to future education. Where is education going in the future? Mr. Ni noted that a consensus should be reached in the following five aspects: (1) AI cannot replace human growth and learning; (2) Technology has two sides, thus we need to promote the coordinated development of people and machines; (3) The quality of education determines the overall quality of people and AI increases the diversified possibilities of student development, thus educators should embrace the changes brought about by AI; (5) AI will certainly replace some of the existing jobs, but new technologies will provide the society with more imaginative futures; (5) AI is now the most important knowledge and skills, and thus AI education oriented by "ambition, interest, and ability" allows people to find out what they really want to study by AI means and enables to promote the high-quality development of humans.

This seminar provided an important communication platform for the educational and scientific communities and promoted the in-depth application and innovation of AI technology in education. After the seminar, experts said that the key to future educational changes should lie in how to balance the universality of AI technology with regional educational characteristics, and how to scientifically evaluate its capabilities that are difficult to quantify. The seminar received wide attention and praise, providing valuable ideological inspiration and practical reference for promoting educational reform in the AI era.
