The Summer Vacation Weekend Camp Collaborated with Bilibili’s Chemistry Popularizers to Ignite a Magical Chemistry Showcase in Shanghai
On the afternoon of August 24, under the guidance of the Chinese Chemical Society and support from the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, and the Shanghai Science & Education Development Foundation jointly hosted the event titled “Having Fun in Science — Summer Vacation Weekend Camp”. This event featured Bilibili's chemistry popularizer and science writer Yang Fan, who engaged over 300 enthusiastic youth with a thrilling and interactive chemistry demonstration at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Yang Fan showcased captivating color transformations in solutions through two major experiments: “Chemical Glow Sticks” and “Colors of Iron”. Subsequently, classic experiments from chemistry textbooks, including the iodine clock experiment, blue bottle experiment, and silver mirror reaction, transcended the pages of textbooks and came to life. He also presented an "alternative innovation" in chemistry experiments, where traditional methods merged with innovative elements, resulting in intriguing chemical reactions. The innovative interpretation of classic principles further stimulated the audience's interest and enthusiasm for chemistry knowledge.
