The 9th Youth Astronomy Forum of Chinese Astronomical Society Successfully Held in Shanghai Astronomy Museum

During April 19-22, 2023, the 9th Youth Astronomy Forum of Chinese Astronomical Society was successfully held in Shanghai Astronomy Museum. Nearly 100 young talents in the front line of astronomy research gathered here to discuss the new direction of astronomical development and explore new ideas for deciphering the universe. 

In the morning of April 20th, the Youth Astronomy Forum officially opened. An Tao, researcher of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhan Hu, researcher of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Lin Qing, director of Astronomy Research Center of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, were invited to respectively give special reports, introducing the latest progress of major scientific research projects "Square Kilometer Array Radio Telescope (SKA)" and "China Space Station Telescope (CSST)" and the thinking of Astronomy Research Center of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum on how to explore the road of scientific research in science popularization venues. 

In addition, the latest achievements in the development of various astronomy fields in recent years were introduced in 25 professional academic reports of young scholars from major astronomical institutions in China . The participating scholars listened carefully, asked questions actively and discussed enthusiastically, fully demonstrating the vigor, wisdom and strength of contemporary Chinese young scholars. 

The Astronomy Research Center led the participating scholars to visit the main exhibition area of Shanghai Astronomy Museum, and introduced the concept and characteristics of Shanghai Astronomy Museum. Scholars were amazed at the beauty of science and art everywhere in Shanghai Astronomy Museum. Many scholars expressed their willingness to discuss the use of solar telescope (EAST) and 1-meter telescope (DOT) and information sharing in data mining with Shanghai Astronomy Museum, and explore more cooperation in the field of scientific research and science popularization.
