Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Won the First Prize of the 3rd Yangtze River Delta Science Popularization Courseware Competition
A few days ago, the award winners of the 3rd Yangtze River Delta Science Popularization Courseware Competition were announced. After the initial and final reviews of the panel of judges, 10 First Prize winners, 20 Second Prize winners, 30 Third Prize winners and 50 Excellence Award winners were selected from over 200 science popularization courseware works. The courseware Giant Panda and Its Neighbors submitted by SSTM was granted the First Prize, and the Sundial was granted the Second Prize.
The courseware Giant Panda and Its Neighbors produced by Guo Yichen, Zhang Yujia, Wang Yigang and Gong Hao of the Exhibition and Education Center of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum was one of the supporting activities for the temporary exhibition titled Cute Panda. This courseware came as a situational education activity that adequately utilized the exhibition resources of the museum. The students who worked as "animal researchers" went deep into the "habitat" of panda and its companion animals, observed and investigated the footprints of the animals, and reproduced a mini habitat for the animals, so that they could understand how important it is to protect the environment and protect the animal and plant resources. The activity was organized by using the new media techniques such as animated video, WeChat Mini Program game and AR, which enriched the contents and form of the course, and different modules could be combined to cater to different audiences, in order to create the optimum course experience.
The courseware Sundial produced by Li Jihong of the Exhibition and Education Center of Shanghai Science and Technology Museum was one of the activities under the "Little Galileo" brand. This courseware presented the theoretical knowledge through the means of videos, interactive game, lecture, observation and comprehension. The audience could make the observation and teaching tools by using the common materials, so that they could profoundly comprehend the knowledge based on their practical observation experience. This courseware was also used in the training session of the Rural Teachers Support Program organized by SAM in 2022, and was extensively used by the trained teachers in their study and practical work.
