The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Held a Special Event to Honor Academician Wu Mengchao, the Father of Chinese Hepatobiliary Surgery

August 31 marks the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Academician Wu Mengchao, a renowned expert in hepatobiliary surgery and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who is celebrated as the “father of Chinese hepatobiliary surgery". That afternoon, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and the Shanghai Science & Education Development Foundation hosted a special event titled "Meet @ Scientists — Commemorating Wu Mengchao", as part of the 213th lecture of the Shanghai Science Communication Forum. Participants of the event paid heartfelt tribute to Academician Wu Mengchao's outstanding contributions, promoted the spirit of scientists, and disseminated knowledge related to liver health.

During the lecture, Academician Wang Hongyang delivered a presentation titled The Marvelous Liver, a Fragile Organ, where she thoroughly analyzed the structure and function of the liver, and emphasized its crucial role in maintaining overall health. She also detailed the causes and prevention methods of common liver diseases, guiding the audience on how to protect their liver better and adopt healthy lifestyle practices to avoid harm caused by unhealthy habits.
