SSTM Launches First New Year Session of “Meet @ Scientists,” Exploring Academician Lu Yuanjiu’s Aerospace World

On January 10, 2026, the SSTM’s branded education program “Meet @ Scientists” was successfully held at the lecture hall of SSTM. This session, themed “Exploring Lu Yuanjiu’s Aerospace World,” presented a multi-dimensional portrayal of Academician Lu Yuanjiu’s noble character of serving the nation through science and technology and his rigorous, truth-seeking spirit through formats including a scientist birthday gathering, a scientist story-sharing session, and a science communication experience fair.

The museum invited experts from the Shanghai Aerospace Control Technology Research Institute to deliver messages from scientists and birthday wishes to 30 lucky participants who share the same birthday as Academician Lu Yuanjiu, a pioneer of China’s aerospace automation science and technology and one of the founders of China’s aerospace endeavors, and to present an engaging science lecture. The event also featured a variety of science communication experience activities. The Science LIVE show “The Magic of Rotation” vividly demonstrated the physical laws of rotational motion through experimental demonstrations of centrifugal effects and gyroscopic effects. The New Year rolling-lantern DIY activity allowed participants to personally experience the balancing principles of a gyroscope. The event inspired public interest, especially among young people, in the aerospace sector and scientific exploration.
