“Shanghai Science and Technology City” Changes Its Name to “Shanghai Science and Technology Museum”

On July 17, 2000, city leaders, including Mayor Xu Kuangdi, held a meeting and decided to change the name of the“Shanghai Science and Technology City” to “Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.” On November 1, the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee issued a document to clarify that the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum is a bureau-level institutional organization. The document also canceled the organizational system of the Shanghai Natural History Museum and merged its functions into the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.
