The Shanghai Research Institute No. 8, CNNC donated the torch "Flying" of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics to Shanghai Science & Technology Museum.

The torch of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics reflects the perfect integration of artistic design and technological innovation, symbolizing both cultural inheritance and scientific and technological innovation. The torch shell was made of lightweight and high-temperature resistant carbon fiber composite materials, which was the first in the world. The torch features "light, solid and elegant," and with rich elements of "black technology," it serves as a vivid practice of technological innovation and achievement transformation.

Technological collections are an important carrier to record the development of human science and technology civilization. On the same day, Shanghai Science & Technology Museum also launched a Collection Multiplication Plan to openly gather collections from the whole society. The collection scope will focus on physical materials with technological history value, landmark technological products, scientific research instruments and experimental devices, technical archives, digital heritage, manuscripts and work articles of scientists, etc., and scientific research institutions, technological enterprises and individual collectors are encouraged to participate.
