From Shanghai to Xining – telling the "tale of two cities" undertaking biodiversity conservation

May 22, 2023 marks the 23rd International Day for Biological Diversity. To echo this year's theme "From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity", on the occasion of the opening of the Shanghai Science and Technology Festival on May 20, units such as the Shanghai Natural History Museum, Museum of Natural Resources of Qinghai Province, Qilian Mountain National Park Qinghai Province Management Bureau, Xining Safari Park, Qinghai Environmental Education, Alaska SEE Sanjiangyuan Project Center ( Qinghai Baoyuan Ecological Conservation Center) jointly organized a live stream of the International Day for Biological Diversity themed by "from Shanghai to Xining – telling the "tale of two cities" undertaking biodiversity conservation" to continuously promote biodiversity conservation, jointly build a beautiful China, and contribute Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to achieve global sustainable development.

During the live stream, five science teachers and researchers from the Shanghai Natural History Museum, Museum of Natural Resources of Qinghai Province and Qilian Mountain National Park Qinghai Province Management Bureau jointly told interesting stories about biodiversity conservation such as "the 'aborigines' in Shanghai", "the 'cat petting' strategy on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" and "guardians of the national park", extending the audience's perspective from the museum's exhibition hall to the snowy plateau thousands of miles away through real-time video connection. While leading the audience to appreciate the beauty of nature, it also showed the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation in China and called on the public to actively participate in biodiversity conservation.
