The Museum Organized the Spring Event of "Science Travel · Technological Innovation Principal Space Station" and New Book Release

On March 16, 2024, the Spring Event of "Science Travel · Technological Innovation Principal Space Station" and the New Book Release of "Academician Takes You to Explore" Popular Science Picture Book (Volume III), a classic reading book of the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, were successfully held in the East Hall of the Shanghai Library. With the theme of "Children Are Natural Scientists", the event focused on hot topics such as youth science education, sci-tech innovation talent training, and popular science works creation through new book releases, science sharing, and exchange and communication, which aroused praise and heated discussions from the participants.

With a continuous extension of scientists' reports, this series of picture books focuses more on the transformation of cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements and the cultivation of innovative thinking of teenagers. It sorts out more than 100 scientific knowledge points, and can enrich the in-class learning and extracurricular reading of teenagers and children by benchmarking the science curriculum standards of primary and secondary schools. Besides, the contrast pictures, three-dimensional diagrams and scientific map of science and art integration can help young readers construct scientific and inquiry thinking in reading, facilitating their scientific enlightenment. The Museum also released another high-quality popular science resource, Nature in the Pocket series of short videos of "Nature Lessons in Classics" to the public on the same day.

To better disseminate the cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements in picture books and tell the story of scientific and technological innovation, this event specially invited experts and scholars to bring wonderful scientific sharing to the audience through sharing of new scientific knowledge, interpretation of picture book creation and popularization of scientific works.

During the "Talk with the Curator", the guests discussed on the theme of "Children are Born Scientists", focusing on what kind of popular science works should be provided to children and youth, and how to write and create popular science works, etc. They talked about the creation of popular science works from the perspectives of science and technology, education and talent cultivation, etc., and guided the young people to form a correct scientific concept.
