"Reading Books and Sharing Views" Launched by SSTM

On the occasion of the 29th World Book and Copyright Day, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM), in cooperation with Shanghai Library, Shanghai Science and Innovation Star Association and co-constructed schools, launched a series of activities of "Reading Books and Sharing Views." On April 16 to 22, 2024, activities themed on "Get interested and then establish an ambition to find the golden key to secrets of science" were provided online and offline. The "Sharing Session of Book Reading," "Book Exchange," and "Book Reading Challenge" were intended to help the public to raise the knowledge about science and enhance their interests on technological innovation.

On the afternoon of April 20, the "Sharing Session of Book Reading" kicked off in the East Hall of Shanghai Library. Chu Junhao, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared with the viewers the profound influence of interest on one's career over videos. Ni Minjing, Curator of SSTM, Lin Xin, Overall Designer of Satellite of Shanghai Satellite Engineering Research Institute, and Wang Jixuan, a student of Shanghai High School, gave their views on science education, scientific research, and scientific exploration respectively, in a hope of helping people interested in science to establish an ambition to explore the secrets of science. Student representatives from five co-constructed schools of SSTM acted as bookstall owners to exchange the campus-wide collected popular science books with friends across the country.

On April 16, "Book Reading Challenge" kicked off. Ni Minjing, Curator of SSTM, Chu Junhao, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Feng Junfeng, Director of Craniocerebral Trauma Center of Renji Hospital, Gu Bei, President of Shanghai Pudong Science Fiction Association, and Xia Zhendong, a "fairy teacher" with millions of fans, were invited to launch a variety of online challenges about reading over videos for five consecutive days. It attracted a wide range of participation of many schools and social organizations.
