The Freshwater Fishes of China by Researchers from Shanghai Science & Technology Museum Was First Released in Shanghai

On January 12, 2025, the new book Freshwater Fishes of China, which was compiled by the researchers of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum for five years, made its debut at the Shanghai Natural History Museum. This book boasts scientific and visual values in creation, making it the most systematic live fish illustration in China so far. It will play a positive role in the science popularization, research, and protection of fishes in China.

Covering 729 species of freshwater fishes and involving 3 orders and 25 phyla, it captures nearly 2,000 high-quality live fish photos through imitating ecological landscaping, fully demonstrating the natural beauty of fishes. With extensive reference at home and abroad to the progress of taxonomic and systematic studies on freshwater fishes in China, the compilation team scientifically and rigorously describes the morphological features, ecological habits, geographical distribution, and other information about freshwater fishes in China, covering all major freshwater fish taxa in China.
